We mount and set off surrounded by the sunny green hillsides of Tuscia.  We ride through “the old town”, the ruins of old San Lorenzo and the atmosphere evoked by the old church of San Giovanni.  Here and there along our route we can see Etruscan tombs, long since plundered but, as we pass these ancient burial grounds of peoples that lived thousands of years ago, we can’t help but breathe and sense the atmosphere of populations and centuries of long ago.…

And then to cap all this we come to the shores of Lake Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake in Europe which greets us with its shady reeds and spontaneous undergrowth,  as also its smooth calm waters which both we and our mounts appreciate
